Tomorrow Ella starts Kindergarten. I don't think I'm dealing with the whole thing very well, which is so very Last Year of me (you know, when the other one started school.) So Today, instead of doing more important or useful things, I knit this hat instead. Then I almost had a nervous breakdown when I realized OMG- we only bought TWO DOZEN Dixon Ticonderoga Pencils instead of the Very Specific THREE DOZEN and now there will be NO COLLEGE FOR GRACE EVER. So anyways- Hat. That I totally knit by myself and then sewed felt flowers on it. And it's really much more of a raspberry color then the orange-y red color it looks in the picture. It distracted me from the HOLYCRAP-ness that is tomorrow for at least two hours. Because I'm thinking maybe Ella should just stay home for one more little year- the kid still can't pronounce her "th's" very well and she always forgets the number 17. She really should not be left out in the scary cold world without knowing how to get from 16 to 18, right? RIGHT?!?

It's so nice to hear about someone else distracting themselves with 'important' projects instead of really needs to happen (like getting those extra 12 Dixon Ticonderoga Pencils - her SAT and ACT scores are going to be affected regardless).
I always end up doing paperwork - purging old files, updating lists, things like that. Office organization is about the only place I feel any kind of security, so it's a safe place for me to hide - er, work in.
Oh, let me tell you about my massive desk reorganization project- it involves installing cabinetry. I have also started on various chore lists/menu plans and meticulous calendars. There will probably be laminating. It's going to be great.
(In addition to helping me get over my empty house, these things also distract me from doing laundry- yay!)
