Back from the Dead (kindof)

Grace tried her very hardest to get Pneumonia last week. There is nothing sadder than a little blonde person who can't stop coughing. We had many, many hours of sitting in the steamy bathroom (my skin! it is fantastic!) and super fun nights of sleeping (and I use that term so very loosely) on the couch because ohmygoodnessisthekidstillbreathing!??!? Various doctor visits and prescription medications later and she is feeling much better.

And now the little one is leaking snot like a faucet. Great.

Anyways, today is our very first official Snow Day. We have all of about 3/4 of an inch. It is not that impressive. Back in MY day, school didn't shut down until there was like 4 inches. AND we had to walk a half mile to the bus stop, which was at the bottom of a hill for goodness sakes. And even though we did not have to go barefoot, we sure didn't have any fancy-schmancy furry snow boots. We wore our rubber barn boots and 3 pairs of socks and DEALT with it. And our classrooms stunk all day because of the wet clothes stuck all over the radiators. Life was hard, few survived. (Did you know lack of sleep can turn you into an old geezer? Apparently so.)

Another bonus of the Massive Snowstorm of '08 is that Eric stayed home. Because in NO WAY does he want His Precious to get injured in any way. Eric's new Precious:

(Actual Precious not pictured. Although Eric would love it, I do not have time to take fancy pictures of his Volvo. Because, and I say this in the most loving way, IT IS JUST A CAR!! Even if I am just a tiny bit in love with it's heated leather seats.)

The Precious is a high-performance vehicle made, I believe, in Sweden. Where, and correct me if I'm wrong, there tends to be occasional SNOW. Perhaps even large amounts of snow. I'm pretty sure this car could make it. But hey, if you want to watch National Treasure on cable in your pajamas and get paid for it, rock on with your bad self.

Oh no! It's snowing again! However will I feed my children when we run out of rations? (Lack of sleep + too much Vicks Vapor-rub absorbed through your skin + being trapped in the house for a week with sick overdramatic children= complete insanity.)

Pray for us.
