So this is what happens when you let your small children watch Darby O'Gill and the Little People... attempted Leprechaun lurings. The girls woke up especially early this morning & set these very clever "Leprechaun Traps." Then Grace went to school and Ella is afraid to go into the playroom because WHAT IF THEY WORK??!! There could be a freaking Leprechaun in there, and that would be not good. Catching the Wee Folk may be good in theory, but your average five year old doesn't really want to deal with that situation in practice.
By the way, Darby O'Gill is one of my favorite movies ever. All my worst nightmares have included Banshees and they still freak me out. A lot. I got all goosebump-y last night & Eric made fun of me. But SERIOUSLY- have you SEEN the Banshees? Or the Death Coach? They are terrifying. I was pretty convinced as a child that every spooky windy sound was coming for me, particularly because we're a little Irish. I'm so happy to pass on these freaky nightmares to my children- I am an awesome parent.
Also part of our St Pat's tradition- Wearing lots of green to avoid the pinches, green milk & Lucky Charms for breakfast, sandwiches cut in the shape of clovers for lunch, something disgusting & green for dinner (unfortunately I have to work this evening, so Eric gets to cover that one.) We also looked up the family town & castle in county Kilkenny and did some insane dancing before school. I'll keep you posted about any Leprechauns we manage to capture.
